Recruiting and certification for women’s basketball

To help provide some insight into the world of women’s basketball recruiting, our guest Tuesday night, April 16, will be Nikki Washington, Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. In her four years at Lynn University, an NCAA Division II school, Coach Washington has led her team to win its first Sunshine State Conference Tournament [SST] game, its first tournament title, and earning the twenty-year program’s only two  NCAA tournament bids.

The 2012-13 SSC Coach of the Year, has coached seven All-SSC selections, one WBCA & Daktronics All American, the Region 5 Player of the Year, SSC Player of the Year, the SSC Defensive Player of the Year, three SSC Defensive Player of the Year Runner-ups, the SSC Freshman of the Year, and the SSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.  Washington is also the only coach in school history to beat every SSC team in the same season.

The 1993 Gatorade Florida High School Player of the Year is a 1999 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. A former professional basketball player in Copenhagen, Denmark, Washington led her team to the Danish Cup National Title, and has been an assistant coach at the both the Junior College and NCAA Division I levels. She has a wealth of knowledge about women’s basketball and we are happy to have her join us. You may listen live, or call in with questions by using 347-677-1564.
